Prime Minister Mark Carney is under pressure from his green allies to match his actions on climate change as prime minister, to his rhetoric before he became PM.

For the sake of Canadian taxpayers, let’s hope he resists.

First off, by no means has Carney said he’s throwing in the towel on climate change.

His government is currently developing what it calls a “climate competitiveness” strategy, details to come.

While he reduced former prime minister Justin Trudeau’s wildly unpopular consumer carbon tax to net zero upon assuming office, Carney has also promised an expanded industrial carbon tax and a new tariff on imported goods from countries without green energy policies, known as a carbon border adjustment mechanism.
