HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) -- The City of Sturgis is battling ongoing water main problems, all while working on a tight city budget.

On Saturday, the entirety of Sturgis was placed under a boil water advisory. This comes after another boil advisory back in September. City Clerk Sandra Germane says these new issues stem from a fire truck filling up its tank at the Sturgis Municipal Airport.

"These water lines are very old," Germane said. "So when you dramatically change that pressure, it causes leaks, and our crews have been out fixing these leaks since Friday."

Germane says the water lines the city uses every day were installed in the 1930s. She went on to say that the city wants to get these pipes replaced, but a small city budget makes that very difficult.
