NEW WASHINGTON, Indiana — A southern Indiana preschooler received a heartwarming show of support from her classmates after she was diagnosed with cancer.
Students at New Washington Elementary came out to surprise their classmate Leyla.
Leyla lives just across the street from the school, so her teacher and school staff were able to organize a walking field trip to the young girl’s house to cheer her up.
Her classmates came with cards and signs filled with encouragement and support showing how much they’re rooting for her to get better.
Leyle begins radiation treatment next week.
“Our students sure let their classmate know how much they miss her and want to see her back in school,” the school wrote in a Facebook post. “We have high hopes to see her again soon!”
