ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - The Georgia election interference case against President Donald Trump and his allies will be dropped unless a new prosecutor is chosen in 14 days.
Fulton County Superior Court Judge Scott McAfee is giving the Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council (PAC) of Georgia two weeks to appoint a prosecutor or he will dismiss the case, according to a court order filed Friday.
In December, the Georgia Court of Appeals ruled that Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis and her office could not continue to prosecute the case, citing an “appearance of impropriety” created by a romantic relationship Willis had with special prosecutor Nathan Wade, whom she had hired to lead the case.
