A man with stab wounds to the upper body was found dead on Saturday in the 1300 block of Temple Avenue in Long Beach after a reported assault, according to preliminary information released by the Long Beach Police Department.
A second male victim found at the scene was taken to a hospital and treated for stab wounds to the upper body as well, according to a statement issued by Long Beach Police spokesman Eric Stachura.
Officers were detaining a person of interest, and planned to announce an update on Sunday, Stachura said.
At about 10:38 a.m., officers responded to a reported assault with a deadly weapon, Stachura explained.
The reported assault happened in a commercial business district along Temple Avenue near the U.S. Postal Service, between East Anaheim Street and East 14th Street.
