The Trump administration will not be allowed to deploy 200 Oregon National Guard to Portland for now, a federal judge ordered Oct. 4.

Judge Karin Immergut ruled the National Guard cannot be deployed for at least 14 days, or until Oct. 18.

Another hearing on whether to extend the deployment pause for another two weeks will be held Oct. 17.

Oregon Attorney General Dan Rayfield called Immergut's decision "a healthy check" on President Donald Trump.

"The president must demonstrate an actual threat based on real facts if he wants to put the National Guard on our streets. Members of the Oregon National Guard are not a tool for him to use in his political theater," Rayfield said in a statement.

Gov. Tina Kotek thanked Rayfield for his work and said justice had been served.
