US President Donald Trump on Saturday welcomed Israel’s decision to temporarily halt airstrikes in Gaza, describing it as an opportunity to facilitate the release of hostages and advance a potential peace agreement.

In a statement posted on social media, Trump urged Hamas to act swiftly, warning that any delay or adverse outcome would have consequences.

“I appreciate that Israel has temporarily stopped the bombing in order to give the hostage release and peace deal a chance to be completed. Hamas must move quickly, or else all bets will be off,” Trump said.

“I will not tolerate delays — which many think will happen — or any outcome where Gaza poses a threat again. Let’s get this done, FAST. Everyone will be treated fairly!”
