When Riverhounds SC midfielder Charles Ahl scored an early goal, it looked to be a lively night in South Beach.

Miami FC (6-15-6) regrouped at the break, and came out in the second half looking for blood. Miami was fighting to stay alive in the playoff chase, and did just that with a 3-1 victory over the Riverhounds (10-10-7) on Saturday night at Pitbull Stadium in Miami, Fla.

A pair of goals from Tobias Zarate shocked the Riverhounds, and Allen Gavilanes’ 82nd-minute goal sealed the loss.

The Hounds’ first loss to Miami in their past nine meetings leaves the team in sixth place in the Eastern Conference, missing out on an opportunity to leap to fourth with a win.

The Hounds are back at home at 7 p.m. Saturday when they will host an Indy Eleven side still hovering near the playoff line
