SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) -Empower Abilities helped those living with disabilities experience the outdoors today.

The nonprofit hosted its annual ‘Day at the Lake’ at Fellows Lake.

The free event offered everyone a chance to have fun, from adaptive kayaking to other crafts and games.

Empower Abilities’ workers say it shows those living with disabilities that the outdoors can still be accessible to them.

“It demonstrates to people with disabilities that they can get out and enjoy the outdoors, that there are opportunities for them to be able to experience all the things that are fun in the lake,” said Eric Kote, Director of Access and Operations at Empower Abilities.
