HOWLAND TWP., Ohio - Local families got a look into the daily life of a firefighter today in Howland Township.

In partnership with Home Depot, the Howland Township Fire Department hosted Home Depot Safety Day to highlight fire safety and fire prevention week.

With a variety of first responder crews in attendance, kids were able to get up close and personal with emergency vehicles. They were also taught how to spray a fire hose and fire extinguisher—all while learning the key points of fire safety.

Howland Township Fire Chief Ray Pace told 21 News that the event is an important one to both the surrounding community and emergency personnel.
