ST. LOUIS, Mo. (First Alert 4) - Adults and teens gathered in a St. Charles neighborhood Saturday evening to celebrate the life of 16-year-old Carter Bennett.

“He was just such a funny kid. And he was so polite and so awesome and so helpful,” said Natalie Black.

Black said Bennett was her son’s best friend, her daughter’s boyfriend and was like a son to her.

“He was such an amazing kid, and we are going to miss him so much,” she said.

St. Charles Police found Bennett dead in his home with gunshot and stab wounds on Sept. 29. Friends had last seen him two days earlier and called police after being unable to reach him for two days.
