Yankees’ Aaron Judge dissects defining moment of Blue Jays’ Game 1 rout

TORONTO — The Yankees ’ Division Series opener started with a couple Blue Jays bangs on Luis Gil mistake pitches, Vladimir Guerrero blasting one into the left-field seats in the first inning and Ajejandro Kirk doing the same thing in the second.

Quickly, the Yankees were down 2-0 and Rogers Centre was rocking.

The Yankees never did catch up in what became a 10-1 Blue Jays rout , but they had a big chance in the sixth inning to turn the game their way.

They sure blew it settling for one run after loading the bases with nobody out facing Blue Jays ace Kevin Gausman.

“We had a stressful inning there,” Aaron Judge said.

The game might have been different if Gausman had begun to limit the sixth-inning damage by striking out Judge for the first out on a 3-2 splitter that was low and
