A celebratory pregame ceremony honoring a Portland Thorns legend paved the way for a signature performance by a superstar in the making Saturday at Providence Park.
On a night when Christine Sinclair’s legacy was cemented forever in front of 21,104 fans, 20-year-old Olivia Moultrie scored twice as the Thorns rallied from behind to secure a crucial 2-1 win over visiting Bay FC.
All eyes were on Sinclair before the game as her No. 12 jersey was retired and her name unveiled on the east side of the stadium as the first member of the Thorns Ring of Honor. She joined the six names enshrined at Providence Park in the Timbers Ring of Honor, which includes Clive Charles, the former Timbers player who recruited Sinclair to the University of Portland as coach of the Pilots in 2001.
