A recent trend in Athens witnesses people embracing urban beekeeping to reconnect with nature and support local ecosystems. Nikos Chatzilias is one of the people who tend to buzzing bee colonies over the rooftops of Athens and enjoys honey flavoured by each neighbourhood’s local flora. As a heavy honey consumer, Chatzilias grew dissatisfied with run-of-the-mill products and decided to produce his own, thus signing up for beekeeping classes in 2020 and becoming a professional at it.
