A troubled manganese smelter in Tasmania's north, Liberty Bell Bay, has received its first shipment of ore after the company announced in May it would be entering into a period of limited operations.
"Due to ongoing challenges with ore supply, Liberty Bell Bay has no option but to enter a period of limited operations," a spokesperson said on May 19.
"Price volatility globally and the imposition of tariffs in the US have also impacted operations."
That period of limited operations has now ended, with the first shipment of ore unloaded at the manganese alloy smelter.
It was paid for with a $20 million loan from the Tasmanian government.
