In West Bengal's Darjeeling hills, torrential rains have sparked landslides, resulting in widespread devastation, officials reported on Sunday. The disaster left at least seven people dead and severed communication with numerous villages.

The Mirik-Sukhiapokhri road was among the worst hit, where landslides swept away homes and halted traffic. Rescue efforts by local authorities and disaster response teams are underway.

The Indian Meteorological Department has forecasted further heavy rainfall, warning of potential landslides and road blockages, as relief efforts continue in the affected regions.
