Imphal, Oct 5: Security forces in Manipur have ramped up their operations against banned militant outfits, apprehending seven insurgents and seizing a cache of arms, ammunition, and narcotics in a series of operations across multiple districts over the past 24 hours. The arrests were made in Imphal East, Imphal West, Bishnupur, and Kakching, targeting cadres of the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) and the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), a militant group with political backing from the Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF). These groups have long been active in the Imphal valley, engaging in recruitment, extortion, and coercion, particularly in disputes involving financial recovery.
