No. 7 Texas traveled to Florida and was upset by the Gators 29-21 on Oct. 4, whereas No. 11 Alabama took care of business vs. No. 17 Vanderbilt after the Commodores defeated the Crimson Tide last season.
Oklahoma will maintain its spot somewhere in the top 10 after its 44-0 shutout over Kent State, which all but locks up the Sooners as the higher-ranked team against Texas in Week 7's Red River Rivalry matchup. However, coach Brent Venables offered an injury update for quarterback John Mateer , saying he didn't expect him to play in the rivalry.
Elsewhere in conference play, No. 5 Texas A&M downed Mississippi State 31-9, while Georgia defeated Kentucky 35-14.
