In the aftermath of his premiership-winning performance in the NRL grand final on Sunday, Brisbane superstar Reece Walsh has revealed he has abstained from alcohol all year.

The 23-year-old is one of the game’s biggest stars, but is not without controversy, and has had his fair share of off-field incidents, including being charged with drug possession and contravening a police move-on order in 2021.

His commitment to his footy cannot be questioned though, particularly after letting the rugby league world in on his secret sobriety.

Asked by Queensland and Brisbane Broncos legend Darren Lockyer if he was “ready for a party” after the win, the young father showed maturity beyond his years.
