LOS ANGELES – A 25-year-old man was found shot to death near an elementary school in South Los Angeles early Sunday morning.

Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to reports of shots fired at the intersection of 97th Street and Budlong Ave. around 12:43 a.m., according to KTLA 5 news.

Upon arrival, they located a male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, and he was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The shooting occurred near 95th Street Elementary School.

“The shooting was not gang-related and the victim is not homeless,” according to a LAPD spokesperson.

The victim’s identity is being withheld pending notification of the next of kin.
