Two people are dead after a structure fire in the 1200 block of Ridgeway Drive in Trion, according to Chattooga County Coroner Jeremy McElhaney.

Officials are still in the early stages of their investigation and are working to learn more about the deadly fire.

McElhaney says the coroner's office will take both victims to the Medical Examiner's office in Atlanta for further examination and positive identification.

The Trion Fire Department, Summerville Fire Department, Hayes Correctional Fire Department, Atrium-Floyd EMS, Chattooga County Sheriff's Department, and the Georgia State Fire Marshal's Office were present at the scene.
