TYLER, Texas — Teenagers in East Texas looking to take the next step in their educational journey got an assist today from Tyler’s New Hope Baptist Church.

The church hosted its first-ever college fair Saturday, giving students the chance to meet with representatives from universities both near and far — including UT Tyler, Stephen F. Austin State University, Southern Illinois University, and several others.

The event was organized by Takova Wallace-Gay, who said it’s never too early to start planning for college. She noted that waiting too long can cause students to fall behind on preparation for important entrance exams and scholarship opportunities.
