Two persons were killed while another sustained serious injuries in a tragic road accident that occurred late Sunday evening along National Highway-6 near Umsaw Nongkharai village in Ri-Bhoi district.

According to police reports, the accident took place around 8 p.m. when a truck (registration number MLA 05 L 4368) coming downhill from Shillong crashed into a Bolero vehicle (registration number ML A 01 7455) belonging to the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, which was travelling uphill towards Shillong.
