A spate of guillemots that have washed up dead on a Scots shoreline have tested positive for avian flu . ‌

The discoveries of the carcases were made near the Scottish Seabird Centre at the harbour in North Berwick, East Lothian, in the last few days. Welfare officers confirmed that a number of the birds tested positive for avian flu . ‌

The centre warned those who may come across a dead, sick or injured bird to not touch it or pick it up, to keep dogs on leashes, and to report the matter to the Scottish SPCA. If the bird is dead , the centre urges the public to report the death to the Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA). DEFRA. ‌
