There's a major shakeup in the US LBM Coaches Poll after a pair of top-10 upsets in Week 6 of the college football season.
No. 6 Penn State (3-2, 0-2 in Big Ten play) and No. 7 Texas (3-2, 0-1 SEC) were both upset by unranked teams, as the Nittany Lions fell to winless UCLA 42-37 and the Longhorns lost to Florida 29-21, both on the road. No. 14 Iowa State (5-1, 2-1 Big 12) also lost to Cincinnati 38-30 on the road, rounding out upset teams in the top 25 on Oct. 4.
The Nittany Lions' loss marked their second in a row, after falling to Oregon at home in overtime in Week 5. A loss to UCLA is devastating to their College Football Playoff hopes, as UCLA was thought to be among the worst teams in FBS entering the week. Texas, meanwhile, has to rebound with its upcoming matchup against archrival Oklahoma if it wants to make the CFP.
Elsewhere, No. 11 Alabama (4-1, 2-0 SEC) outlasted No. 17 Vanderbilt (5-1, 1-1 SEC) in a revenge game, knocking off the previously unbeaten Commodores 30-14 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. And No. 3 Miami (5-0, 1-0 ACC), despite allowing a late comeback attempt from No. 19 Florida State (3-2, 0-2 ACC), looked like one of the best teams in college football in a 28-22 road win over the Seminoles.
Here's a look at how those games and more impacted the updated polls after Week 6 of the college football season:
