The hit Netflix series Monster returned for its third series this weekend, this time focusing on serial killer Ed Gein.

Also known as the Butcher of Plainfield and the Plainfield Ghoul, Ed Gein was an American serial killer and body snatcher and is credited for inspiring many subsequent serial killers .

The new series , released on October 3, covers many aspects of Ed's life and crimes. However, many viewers have been left wondering if Ed killed his supposed girlfriend in the show Adeline Watkins after finishing the series.

Written by the programme’s co-creator, Ian Brennan, the show takes viewers back to the 1950s when Gein began his murderous activities in rural Wisconsin; his gruesome activities would go on to inspire the likes of Psycho, The Texas Chain Saw Massacr
