KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — The Tennessee Volunteers climbed three spots to No. 12 in the latest AP Top 25 Poll — despite not playing this past weekend due to a bye. It marks the first movement for the Vols in the rankings in four weeks.
Tennessee’s rise came largely thanks to a Nico Iamaleava-led UCLA upset over Penn State, as well as Texas falling to Florida. Both the Nittany Lions and Longhorns dropped out of the rankings entirely following their losses.
Despite Texas dropping out, the SEC still has nine teams represented in the Top 25. That includes Vanderbilt, which only fell four spots after a competitive loss to rival Alabama.
Ole Miss, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Alabama, Georgia, and LSU are the six other conference teams ahead of Tennessee in the rankings.
Last week, the Vols held their spo
