A rally in support of teachers on the cusp of a Monday province-wide teachers’ strike drew thousands to the Alberta legislature grounds Sunday morning.

Alberta Teachers’ Association (ATA) president Jason Schilling spoke in Edmonton before heading to a Calgary rally in the afternoon on World Teachers’ Day in support of public education.

The public, encouraged to show their support by attending rallies and wearing red since teachers have said they will not be picketing, turned out in a sea of red.
