A 25-year-old man died early this morning after being caught in the crossfire of a shooting in Akron’s Highland Square neighborhood.
Akron Police officers responded to the 800 block of West Market Street at approximately 12:25 a.m. for reports of a shooting. Officers found the victim with a gunshot wound and he was transported to Cleveland Clinic Akron General, where he was pronounced deceased, according to a news release.
According to preliminary investigation, the victim was struck unintentionally during gunfire between two unknown suspects. Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit and Crime Scene Unit are conducting interviews and collecting evidence.
