Canada’s backline will be shorthanded heading into the October international break.

Canadian centre-back Moise Bombito sustained what appeared to be a serious leg injury while playing for OGC Nice in Ligue 1 action on Sunday.

The incident occurred early in the second half of a game against AS Monaco. Bombito went in for a tackle on Folarin Balogun, appeared to get tangled up and went down awkwardly on the play.

After a long look from the team’s medical staff, he was stretchered off the pitch.

Nice head coach Franck Haise said after the game that the injury is “not good,” per Joshua Kloke of The Athletic.

Bombito, 25, was only making his second appearance for Nice since returning from a wrist fracture and tibia stress fracture that kept him out for four months, including during Canada’
