WOLF RIVER, Wis. (WFRV) - On Sunday afternoon, deputies recovered the body of a missing man from a Winnebago County body of water.

According to the Winnebago County Sheriff's Office, authorities were initially called to the Bay Lane Boat Launch in the Town of Wolf River around 4:35 p.m. on Saturday. The caller reported that a man was in distress in the water.

Deputies were able to rescue the man and take him to a local hospital for treatment. However, during contact with the "involved vessel and its occupants," deputies learned that a second man was 'unaccounted' for and was believed to have still been in the water.

The Winnebago County Dive/Rescue Team, Drone Team, and several area fire departments immediately began search efforts.
