About 800 people were expected to gather Sunday evening at Temple Beth El in Bloomfield Hills for a concert to mark the two-year anniversary of Hamas assault on Israel.

The evening, "From Sorrow to Song," was to feature a "hopeful, forward-looking musical performance" from HaShayara, an Israeli ensemble from nonprofit organization Dror Israel, according to the Jewish Federation of Detroit, which helped organized the event. Both groups have helped fund activities and programs including temporary schools and educational activities for displaced children and families, therapeutic and rehabilitative programs.

Photographs of hostages still held will be on display, as will photographs of the aftermath of the assault in 2023.
