More than 100 California National Guard soldiers were flown into Oregon overnight, as the Trump administration ordered 300 members of the California Guard to deploy to the state. The late night troop movement came hours after a federal judge blocked the Trump administration from federalizing parts of the Oregon National Guard to go to Portland.

California Gov. Gavin Newsom broke the news early on Sunday, calling the deployment “a breathtaking abuse of the law and power.” He said the state would fight the action in court. Oregon Gov. Tina Kotek confirmed that 101 California National Guard members had been flown into the state overnight, with more to come. She reiterated past remarks that there is no insurrection in Portland.
