A worker at a Brooklyn discount store tried to foil a would-be shoplifter Sunday — only to get stabbed.

The 30-year-old victim, who was not identified, was working at a Family Dollar store on Flatlands Avenue in East New York around 11:48 a.m. when she was slashed by the thief, police and sources said.

She was taken to Brookdale Hospital by ambulance and was listed in stable condition.

The store was closed Sunday afternoon with a handwritten sign taped to the window saying it would reopen Monday morning.

“Due to an earlier incident, we will remain closed for the rest of today,” the sign said. “We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding.”

Police said there had been no arrests in the violent encounter but the investigation continues.
