PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) -- An accidental house fire in Peoria caused an estimated $20,000 in damage.
At 3:31 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 5, Peoria Fire Department crews went to a structure fire on 801 E. Fairoaks Ave., Battalion Chief Josh Martin said.
Arriving crews saw smoke coming from the rear of the one-story home. They later found the fire originated in the crawl space and had extended up the rear wall.
Firefighters worked quickly to extinguish the fire. Rescue crews searched the home and confirmed that everyone had safely gotten out before they arrived.
Crews also performed overhaul operations to make sure there were no hidden fire extensions inside the building.
Martin said the cause of the fire was ruled accidental. No injuries were reported.
