**Blue Jays Fans Embrace Superstitions for Yankees Series** Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Jeff Hoffman recently suggested a change in the team’s headgear as they faced the New York Yankees in the American League Division Series. With the team struggling in the final days of the regular season, Hoffman proposed that the players wear retro white-panel hats, similar to those worn during Hall of Fame weekend earlier this summer. These hats resemble the ones the Blue Jays donned during their back-to-back World Series victories in 1992 and 1993. Manager John Schneider noted, "Hoff wanted to just have a different feel of what we were wearing. And what we were doing." Hoffman expressed his surprise that the team had not considered the hats earlier, stating, "I thought it was crazy that we hadn’t explored them. We have a couple of different uniforms that they go really good with and I think that they’re a great look." The Blue Jays wore the white-panel caps for their final home games, except for one game against the Tampa Bay Rays when they had to wear their City Connect uniforms. The hats made a notable return when the Blue Jays defeated the Yankees 10-1 in Game 1 of the series. Winning pitcher Kevin Gausman remarked, "I would’ve switched it if it was anything different." As the team prepared for Game 2, they continued to sport the white-panel hats. Last year, designated hitter George Springer mentioned that a jersey change could bring good luck, saying, "100% … 100%." Outfielder Davis Schneider added that if the team started winning in a specific uniform combination, they would be hesitant to change it. "If we start winning in them, we’re definitely not taking them off," he said. Fans have also leaned into their own superstitions to support the team. Liz McGuire, who gained attention after being hit by a foul ball last year, plans to wear the same outfit from the last winning game she attended. "I can’t control how (the pitchers are) going to pitch, but I will take any chance I can to try and control this outcome," she said. McGuire also mentioned she would refrain from buying postseason gear until the team advances past the Yankees, stating, "I’m too scared. Every time I get postseason merch, they lose." Kevin Guindon, a longtime fan, wore a version of the white-panel hat he purchased years ago. "Because they ended the season wearing these and winning, it was an easy decision today," he said. Ryan Lee, another fan, joked that he would wear the hat if the team continued to win, saying, "I might wash it first, then yes, I’ll wear it more." Connor Joseph, who traveled from Winnipeg, bought a white-panel hat, saying, "I like the vibe. I like what it seems to do for (the team)." Newmarket’s Dave Draper purchased a postseason cap, hoping it would be his lucky hat if the Jays took a 2-0 lead against New York. Rookie right-hander Trey Yesavage was set to make his fourth career start for the Blue Jays in Game 2. Shane Bieber, the Game 3 starter, expressed excitement about watching Yesavage pitch. Outfielder Daulton Varsho praised Yesavage’s maturity, stating, "He’s built for this moment." Game 3 is scheduled to begin just after 8 p.m. on Tuesday, with Bieber facing the Yankees’ Carlos Rodon.
