CINCINNATI, Ohio — To borrow a phrase from legendary basketball coach Rick Pitino , 2023 Jake Browning is not walking through that door for the Bengals.

The 2025 version of Browning just has not been nearly good enough for the Bengals to ride the storm without the injured Joe Burrow.

At one point in the first half of Sunday’s 37-24 loss to the Detroit Lions at Paycor Stadium, Browning had more interceptions (2) than yards per pass attempt (1.8).

The good news for him is he did have a trio of fourth-quarter touchdowns to make things interesting after the Bengals spotted the Lions a 25-point deficit.

He finished by going 26 of 40 for 251 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions.
