WILLISTON, Vt. (WCAX) - Crews are continuing to fight a fire that started Saturday on Brownell Mountain in Williston.

The cause of the fire is still undetermined, although most likely started by a human and not a lightning strike, according to the Vermont State Wildland Fire Specialist, Devin Healy.

“We look for indicators whether that’s a fire pit or an old campfire. You know there’s signs that we can look at and see,” he said.

A Montana based helicopter, flew to Lebanon, New Hampshire to assist New England with wildfire responses amid extremely dry conditions. This helicopter, called the ‘Skycrane’ helped spray thousands of gallons of water over the fire last night.

This kept the fire from spreading overnight, when crews decided to wait until morning to start attacking it.
