AUSTIN, Texas — Two people are dead and another is injured following a multi-vehicle crash that occurred in Elgin Saturday night.

According to the Elgin Police Department, the crash happened just before 7 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 290 and SH 95.

Three people from one of the involved vehicles were taken to hospitals in Austin, where two of them were pronounced dead. The condition of the third person is unknown. Their identities have not been revealed by Elgin police.

Police say the crash caused the closure of the roadways for around two hours while the initial investigation was being done. The Elgin Fire Department, Acadian EMS and two medevac helicopters responded to the scene.
