SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - Last year, a Sioux Falls public address announcer made a remarkable recovery and return to the press box booth less than a week after having a stroke. The voice of the Sioux Falls Canaries, Sioux Falls Stampede and Augustana Vikings hockey was notably missing from the Stampede home opener Saturday night, but this time for a good reason.
Randy Preston has now been the voice of Sioux Falls sporting events for nearly fifteen years. As he approached his 1000th game behind the mic this September at the Birdcage, he was overwhelmed with gratitude.
“It’s really meaningful to me,” explained Preston. “I mean, I really didn’t start doing this until I was in my mid-fifties, so the fact that in about twelve to fifteen years I have been able to work 1000 profes
