One week before he returns to the Northwest, Sawyer Racanelli had his best game yet at Wake Forest.

The redshirt senior from Hockinson had a team-high 88 receiving yards in a 30-23 road win over Virginia Tech on Saturday. That included a 62-yard catch that set up a field goal to give Wake Forest a 27-20 lead in the third quarter.

That comes one week after Racanelli’s first catch since transferring to Wake Forest, which came Sept. 27 in the fourth quarter of a 30-29 loss to Georgia Tech.

Wake Forest (3-2) travels from Winston-Salem, N.C., to Corvallis to face Oregon State on Oct. 11. It will be a quasi-homecoming for Racanelli, who helped Hockinson win Class 2A state titles in 2017 and 2018.
