Australians who fall victim to cybercriminals are more likely to be targeted again, police have warned, as crime data shows the relentless, vicious cycle of online scams.
Research from the Australian Institute of Criminology (AIC) revealed that 42.1 per cent of all cybercrime victims were hit by multiple, distinct types of attacks in a single year.
Australian Federal Police (AFP) Cyber Commander Graeme Marshall said that cybercriminals "don't just move on after one attack".
"If they find a vulnerability, whether that's a weak password, outdated software or a compromised email, they'll come back again and again - often in different ways," Commander Marshall said.
