Police chief whose nephew is accused of Cranford murders hit with discrimination suit

A former police officer in Union County faced retaliation after reporting sexual harassment from a civilian employee, a lawsuit claims.

Matthew O’Holla, who resigned from the Westfield Police Department in August, filed a civil lawsuit alleging a series of retaliatory actions by Police Chief Christopher Battiloro and other employees that created a hostile work environment.

Battiloro’s nephew, Vincent P. Battiloro , 17, of Garwood, is charged with two counts of murder for the hit-and-run deaths of two girls riding an e-bike in Cranford last week. Christopher Battiloro lives in Cranford, on the same street as one of the victims.
