HOUSTON – A passenger was arrested Sunday evening after attempting to open a door on a United Airlines flight at George Bush Intercontinental Airport, officials said.

According to the Houston Airport System, the incident happened around 6:30 p.m. as United Flight 788 from Indianapolis was taxiing. Officials said the attempt was unsuccessful but caused the aircraft’s emergency slides to deploy.

The Houston Police Department took the individual into custody. No injuries were reported.

Passengers were transported by bus to the terminal, and the aircraft was confirmed fire safe. Airport officials said operations were not impacted.
