Newsom vows
fight in court
SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — California Gov. Gavin Newsom says the Trump administration is sending 300 California National Guard members to Oregon. That comes after a judge temporarily blocked the administration from deploying the Oregon National Guard to Portland.
Newsom pledged Sunday to fight the move in court. The Democrat said California personnel were on their way Sunday and called the deployment “a breathtaking abuse of the law and power.”
There was no immediate official announcement from Washington that the California guard was being sent to Oregon, as was the case when Illinois’ governor made a similar announcement Saturday about troops in his state being activated.
