French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu has resigned, after less than a month in the position.

Mr Lecornu was appointed prime minister in September.

He was preceded by François Bayrou, who also quickly left the position.

Mr Bayrou was appointed prime minister in December 2024, lasting just nine months.

Mr Lecornu had just formed a new cabinet, which was broadly similar to Mr Bayrou's, on Sunday, local time.

But it was met with fierce criticism across the political spectrum. Loading
