Tension gripped West Bengal’s Nagrakata on Monday after BJP MP Khagen Murmu and MLA Shankar Ghosh were attacked by locals while they were visiting flood-affected areas. Both leaders sustained injuries and were rushed to a local hospital, officials said.

Police reached the spot soon after the incident. Videos of the incident showed the BJP leaders' car windshield shattered, while MP Khagen Murmu emerged with blood streaming from his nose. MLA Shankar Ghosh suffered minor injuries and his clothes were torn.

The attack triggered political uproar, with BJP leaders accusing the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) of orchestrating violence to obstruct relief work.
