Reports emerged about former NFL quarterback Mark Sanchez being stabbed after midnight on Friday night/Saturday morning while in Indianapolis to call the Colts vs. Raiders game as part of the FOX broadcast.

Now, more information from the story has become available. Sanchez got into an altercation with a 69-year-old truck driver on Friday night. The driver feared that Sanchez was "Trying to kill" him and stabbed Sanchez, claiming self-defense.

On Saturday, Oct. 4, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) announced that the former NFL star and analyst, 38, had been arrested at a local hospital on three misdemeanor charges: battery with injury, unlawful entry of a motor vehicle, and public intoxication. Sanchez approached the door of the man's box truck shortly after 12:30 AM. The hotel provided the police with surveillance footage. The footage showed the elderly man backing away from Sanchez, then running from him down an alley, where Sanchez can be seen catching up with him and throwing him into the wall by the Westin Hotel.

According to witnesses, both men were recording the other with cell phones. As things escalated, the elderly man tried to use pepper spray on Sanchez, but he just wiped it away. The man then pulled a knife and stabbed Sanchez two or three times. Following the altercation, Sanchez was taken to a local hospital while the older gentleman was treated for a laceration on his left cheek.

The truck driver later told authorities that the altercation began because Sanchez had told him a hotel manager had barred him from standing in the loading dock, according to TMZ. Sanchez was reportedly slurring his words and became frustrated when the truck driver could not hear him because he was not wearing his hearing aids. The investigation remains active and is ongoing.
