Rock legend Bruce Springsteen made a surprise appearance at the New York Film Festival, performing his song Land of Hope and Dreams following the premiere of his biopic Deliver Me From Nowhere. The film, starring Jeremy Allen White as Springsteen, explores the early 1980s period in which he recorded his acoustic Nebraska album while also working on Born in the USA.

During his performance, Springsteen reflected on the state of the world, remarking:

“These days we have daily events reminding us of the fact that we’re living through these particularly dangerous times.”

He stressed the importance of holding onto hope and ideals despite societal tensions, government censorship, and rising divisiveness.
