Even as 9 patients lost their lives in a hospital fire in Jaipur, Ahmedabad saw two fires in different hospitals on consecutive days. One was at Vrundavan Children’s Hospital in the Paldi area of the city on Sunday, and the other at SVP Hospital on Monday.

A fire broke out at Vrundavan Children’s Hospital at about 2 pm on Sunday. Residents of apartment buildings behind the hospital first saw and reported the smoke coming out of the hospital, leading to the Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services (AFES) rushing to the spot.

The fire was in the consultation room of the hospital, which was closed as it was a Sunday. Fire department officials said that there were patients in other parts of the hospital and that all 13 had been evacuated and safely moved to another private hospital before the
